Pair of Large Porcelain Temple Jars with Ormolu Mounts
Pair of large porcelain temple jars decorated with green, rust, pale pink and yellow, accented with black and shades of blue. The overall form is elegantly potted and the identical decoration features a noblewoman and her attendants. She is being presented with a gift. The reverse is decorated with a garden scene, noblemen and attendants. The ormolu mounts are beautifully executed. The lid featuring a finial of scrolling acanthus leaves, flowers, and a seed-bearing pomegranate. The sides are flanked with female masks surrounded by flora and fauna along with scrolling ribbons. The base design is executed in a undulating wave motif. All of the ormolu has a beautiful patina and appears to have been associated with the porcelain for quite some time. Overall, a spectacular pair.
