If there were a handbook describing the proper proportions for an English tall case clock, it would not be a shock to find this one in there. In richly toned mahogany with just the right amount of boxwood stringing, this clock strikes an elegant pose. The bonnet with swan neck pediment frames the brass and steel dial with the maker's name, Joseph Davis of London, engraved on a steel disc in the break arch. An eight day movement chimes on the hour. BDI 219.
